Corronation street?

Hi can anyone help solve a heated discussion between me and hubby - I remember a TV programme where they interviewed the real life residents of Corronation Street ie. the actors appeared to walk through their "own" front door (but it was actually a real home, lived in by real people), then the cameras cut to the set, somewhere in Manchester?.. Hubby says since Corronation Street started the street houses have always been a "set" and the houses featured have never been real homes and nobody has ever lived in them. Can anyone help solve this it's driving me mad and I don't want him to be right lol......thanks in advance.. ps I would appreciate a website to prove him wrong lol..... Pam x
