I think your idea of clroom organization is a good one. You could find out how this student is best served and what kind od accommodations you can do to make their inclusion less traumatic. You might also include a student helper in case you are not available at the moment for answering questions. Are there any physical challenges that must be accommodated for. Your collaboration with the student's former teacher would be a good move
